"This is a comprehensive update on the opportunities for Town planers to work in Australia. It should answer the questions raised to date and debunk some of the myths.

The Australian market is wide open but the acute demand is for experienced Town planners with 3/4 years track record to work outside the main metropolitan areas. The more remote, the higher the pay. Guideline already given at A$80-100k a year.

Yes, there are metropolitan opportunities but not on the same scale and salaries vary - one in Brisbane that came on the market this morning pays A$75k but wants 5 years experience and specific skills. One closing in Sydney on the 24th is very senior and pays A$110k for example.

These are the tip of the iceberg and only one in three jobs in Australia, and it is even lower in this sector as traditional recruiters take a hit and run approach and are fundamentally lazy (more on this later)

There is good news on graduates. Our business partners are prepared to accept applications from anybody under 30 willing to emigrate in the next 3 months by using a combination of visas. initially starting on a 417 visa - called a Working holiday visa and then if the applicant likes Australia and Australia like the applicant then migrating them across within a year to a 457 visa which is called an Employer sponsored visa. These positions will mainly be in rural locations so if you want to go nightclubbing in Sydney they will not be for you.
