Engineering skills shortage 'blights the UK'
There is a skills shortage in the UK's engineering and technical sectors which could create a need for staff hired through a European recruitment agency.
A new report published by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation has highlighted the problems facing these industries and suggests that there are a lack of graduates qualified to work in these roles.
Philip Higgins, chair of the organisation's engineering and technical division, highlights the importance of attracting people from outside the UK to this sector.
He says: "The issue is not only how we can attract skills to the UK but also to make sure were promoting engineering as a career."
Mr Higgins says that the large number of major engineering projects in the pipeline during the next decade makes this issue even more critical.
A recent report by the Engineering Employers' Federation and BDO LLP has found that the manufacturing industry is currently on the rise.
