Manufacturing output strengthens
ONS (Office of National Statistics) figures show manufacturing output in the last three months rose nearly 1% on the previous three months.
Britain's factories have notched up the strongest year of growth for more than 15 years as they recover from the deep slump triggered by the financial crisis, according to government figures released today.
After a 0.3% rise in July, activity was now almost 5% higher than it was in July 2009, the fastest rate of growth since December 1994.
However, despite picking up from its post-recession trough a year ago, output is still almost 10% lower than it was in 2006, the last full year before the credit crunch began so we have a long way to go.
