Polish recruitment: UK unemployment falls again

The number of unemployed people in the UK has fallen again, according to new data, which bodes well for Polish recruitment.

According to figures issued by the Office for National Statistics, the manufacturing industry in particular is experiencing an upturn, with far more jobs available for Polish workers and other skilled Eastern European workers.

Overall, unemployment fell 33,000 in the three months to January, compared with the previous quarter, with experts predicting this trend is set to continue in the coming months.

Jeegar Kakkad, senior economist at EEF, the manufacturers' organisation, told the BBC: "The figures show that job losses in manufacturing are at their lowest since the recession began."

Colin Ellis, economist at Daiwa Capital Markets, added that the figures suggest that more workers are willing to work shorter hours or operate for lower wages.

The news comes after industry analyst Paul Rayne recently said that there has been renewed demand for the services of Polish workers and other skilled employers in the construction sector as it picks up following the recession.
