SFA appointment 'will boost UK skills'
The new appointment of Geoff Russell as the first chief executive of the new Skills Funding Agency (SFA) will help to stimulate the UK's labour market, it has been claimed.
Current Learning and Skills Council chief executive Mr Russell will take up the role early next year and said that he hopes to improve the skill sets of UK adults in order to boost the country's economy.
He added that he will aim to target improvement across the board and help adults to develop skills which will make them more employable and increase the productivity of the UK's businesses.
Mr Russell explained: "The SFA will be at the heart of the economic recovery, delivering a skilled workforce for the 21st century, responding effectively to demand and supporting achievement, innovation and enterprise."
The appointment comes after Dan Hawes, co-founder of the Graduate Recruitment Bureau, recently said that many graduates are struggling against skilled workers when it comes to gaining employment with UK firms.
