" I recently completed my MSc in Medical Microbiology (cum laude) at Stellenbosch University, which involved multiple phenotypic and molecular assays. In addition, at Stellenbosch University, I completed an undergraduate BSc in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (majors: Biochemistry and Microbiology), as well as a postgraduate BSc (Honours) in Medical Microbiology (cum laude), which involved a practical research project and theoretical modules in Research Methodology, Microbiology, Virology, Molecular Biology, and Immunology. During both my BSc (Honours) and MSc I presented my research at multiple departmental research meetings and conferences, various articles at journal club, and was selected to join the Golden Key International Honour Society.

In addition to my academic experience, I have worked as a casual Trainee Medical Scientist at PathCare, Cape Town in the molecular reference laboratory between December 2020-December 2022. The responsibilities involved SARS-COV-2 (Covid-19) testing using reverse transcription quantitative PCR. With my research background and experience, as well as my strong theoretical knowledge, I believe I will be the best candidate for this position. I am confident that I will not only meet, but also exceed the expectations of this role, this job title will also be a great opportunity to gain work experience while utilising my skills to the fullest.

Previous Employment Details:

I have worked as a casual Trainee Medical Scientist at PathCare, Cape Town in the molecular reference laboratory between December 2020-December 2022. The responsibilities involved SARS-COV-2 (Covid-19) testing using reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR), of which I performed predominantly on nightshift. During this time I worked in a BSL2 Molecular Laboratory at PathCare, performing Covid-19 diagnostic testing on predominantly nasopharyngeal swaps using the Abbott m2000 real-time system and the Bosphore Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) PCR Detection Kit. Thereafter, results were analysed, reported and communicated with the appropriate individual.
